Nannie Lee Cummings, 74, of Chesapeake went to be with her Heavenly Father on May 6, 2011 surrounded by her loving family. A native of South Norfolk, she was the daughter of the late Herbert E. and Grace Sturgis Mallette. She was a devoted wife and mother, and invested much time teaching her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to love our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. She is survived by her husband, Robert B. Cummings; two daughters, Patricia Kay Bailey and her husband, Jerry, and Leigh Anne Naghiu; a son, Robert B. Cummings, II and his wife, Melissa; a sister, Mary Deford; a special niece, Gloria Moore; eight grandchildren, Corey Bailey, Eric Bailey, Bobby Cummings, Will Cummings, Alyssa Cummings, David Cummings, Madeline Cummings, and Joel Naghiu; and three great-grandchildren, Jesse Bailey, Cameron Bailey, and Kendall Bailey.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 8th from 7 to 8 p.m. at Family Choice Funerals & Cremations, 5401 Indian River Road, Virginia Beach. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 9th at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 412 Scarborough Drive, Chesapeake. My deepest sympathy in the loss of Mrs Cummings. Mrs Cummings was the perfect mom always home when we were outside playing. It has been a long time since I saw her. Unfortunately I lost touch when you moved.
I grew up playing with Patty on Rodgers Street. We liked to play in the pine trees in her back yard when we were little. The last I remember was Patty’s wedding and how perfect Mrs Cumming had everything and she was always so calm.
I hope you have many good memories of the good times. I am very sorry for your loss.
