Perry Wayne Sifford, 75, passed away peacefully May 30th, 2022 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family.
Perry was born May 6th, 1947 in Salisbury, North Carolina to RC and Pearl Sifford. He was a Longshoreman for many years until he retired in 2003. Perry worked hard and played hard. He was an avid Miami Dolphins fan and remained a fan through the tough times. Perry loved being outside, whether it was hunting, fishing or working on classic cars with his brother. Those who knew Perry would say that he loved listening to oldies but goodies, eating southern fried chicken, crab legs, and he never turned down a stiff drink. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, great-grandfather and friend. He will be deeply missed.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Patricia Sifford; children: Sammy Sifford, Leslie Mitchell, Julie Sifford-Anderson, Ronald Rushford Jr, Travis Rushford, Antoinette Heine; brother, Terry Sifford; two sisters, Jessie Faydo, Sylvia Carlton; 11 grandchildren and 12 beautiful great-grandchildren. The family would like to send a special thanks to those who took great care of him as a well as a special thanks to Dr. Hannah Lee and Nenette Eubanks from VCU and to the Sentara Norfolk General I.C.U.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 pm with a service to follow at 7:00 pm, Friday, June 3rd, 2022 at Family Choice Funerals & Cremations. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family.
