
Preston Thomas Justis Jr., age 84, passed away peacefully at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Virginia Beach, VA on Monday, November 6th, 2017. He was the beloved husband of Nancy Justis who preceded him in death July 24, 2016. Preston was born on June 6th, 1933 in Chelsea, MA to Preston Sr. and Thelma Arnold Justis. As the son of a Coast Guard Officer, Preston lived in numerous coastal cities within the US while growing up until settling in Norfolk VA where he attended Norview High School. This is where he met Nancy Beaver, whom he was to marry on December 19, 1953.
Preston was a veteran of the United States Army. He attended the College of William and Mary VPI, studying engineering for several years. He was employed as a Technical Support Representative for IBM in 1955, a position he was to hold for 35 years. They settled and raised their family in Virginia Beach. He loved his family, NASCAR, gardening, fishing, reading the newspaper, and Oldsmobiles.
He is survived by his son Preston Scott Justis and his wife Mary, daughter Linda Lawless, son Mark Justis, and daughter Lisa Donovan and her husband Mark. Preston is also survived by his grandchildren Jennifer Justis, David Justis, Lieutenant Michael Lawless MD, USN, Brianne Donovan, and Lindsey Donovan. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Joann Justis.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, November 11th, 2017 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at Family Choice Funerals & Cremations 5401 Indian River Road Virginia Beach, Virginia 23464. A memorial service will follow at 10:00 am.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Parkinson Research Foundation.
