Richard C. McClellan, 85, passed away Monday, April 24, 2023 at his home in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He was born March 10, 1938 in Altoona, Pennsylvania to Harry and Alberta McClellan. Richard joined the United States Navy in 1959 and served until 1978 when he retired active service in Virginia Beach. That
same year, he began civil service work for the US Navy and continued that work until finally retiring at the age of 62.

Richard met his wife, Josephine, in the Philippines when stationed there in 1969. The two returned to the United States in 1971 and proceeded to be stationed at several other Naval bases around the country. Richard and Josephine celebrated 53 years of marriage prior to his death. In his spare time, he enjoyed talking to the neighbors, lottery scratch tickets, drinking his coffee, and watching “his” shows.

In addition to being predeceased by his parents, Richard was predeceased by his four brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his wife, Josephine; two children Barbara and Richard II; granddaughter Dezaree; two grandsons Ronan and Ryker, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

No funeral will be held but as a veteran, Richard will be buried at the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, VA with full honors.
