Richard Edward Weiser, Sr., 86, of Roanoke, passed from this earthly life on Friday, April 3. After having been married to the love of his life Bonnie Jean for 63 years, who passed away only days before him, she returned to take him with her to Heaven. Richard, born in Bluefield, WV, was also preceded in death by his parents, Donald Wesley and Dorothy Morrison Weiser; brother, Donald William Weiser; and sister, Gayle Weiser Jones; and daughter-in-law, Deborah Hutton Weiser.
Surviving are their children, Sandra Weiser Sowder and husband, Wayne, Richard Weiser, Jr., and Betti Weiser Thompson and husband, Dennis; grandchildren, Mark, Brad, Kelly, Richard III, Matthew, Michael, Hope, Adam and Caitlyn; 8 great grandchildren; and nieces, Toni, Jill, Gina, Diana, and Debra.
Richard was retired as a machinist from Norfolk Southern after 39 years of service. He had a great love of trains, especially the 611, which he had a hand in restoring years ago. He was in the Army Reserves for 12 years. He was a long time member at Valley View Wesleyan Church. He loved the Lord and had many Bible studies at lunch breaks at work.
He loved his family and set a marvelous example of a wonderful Dad and Paw-Paw. Heaven is rejoicing today with two new Angels!
