Robert E. Caughlin, Jr., 62 of Chesapeake passed away after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on May 16, 2011 surrounded by his loved ones. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert E. Caughlin, Sr. and Marie Caughlin and a sister Kathleen Fagnani.
“Bob” is survived by his wife, Sharon; son Robert E. Caughlin III; daughters Shannon Louder and her husband Bryan and Kathleen Caughlin; grandsons Kyle and Bryan Louder.
Bob retired from the Chesapeake Fire Department as a Lieutenant with 29 years of dedicated service. He was a US Navy combat veteran of the Viet Nam War. Bob was also an avid and dedicated Chicago Cubs fan.
The family recommends memorial donations be made in Bob’s memory to the Lustgarten Foundation (Pancreatic Cancer Research) www.lustgarten.org
A public visitation with the family will be held on Sunday, May 22nd from 6:00Pm to 8:00PM at Chesapeake Fire Station #5, 451 Hanbury Road. A commital service will be held on Monday, May 23rd at 11:00AM at Albert Horton Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Road in Suffolk, Va. with Retired Fire Chaplain John A. Roach officiating.

In spite of the situation, I sensed the strength of the bond between you and your evident caring for each other. My heart reaches out to you though words are never enough!!
