Robert Thomas “Bob” Cooksey, 79, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 in Virginia Beach, VA. Born on March 17, 1936 in Loudoun County, VA, he was the son of the late Lawrence Thomas Cooksey and Eva Hickam Cooksey. Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he served honorably with units in Paris, France during the Korean War. After his time in the service, Bob had a career in retail sales management. A big fan of intellectual novels, Bob had read all the works of Dan Brown. He also enjoyed jazz music and was a fan of Aaron Neville. Bob closely followed politics and would often be seen chatting with neighbors about current events. He also enjoyed lighthouses, and had an entire room devoted to display his collection of miniature lighthouses from all over the world. But most of all, Bob will be remembered for his steadfast love of his family, and especially his children.
Left to cherish his loving memory are wife, Kristen Wallenburg and their two young children, Jesse and Taylor of Virginia Beach, VA; and three adult children, Tim, Todd, and Tracey Cooksey. He was preceded in death by his brother.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held on Saturday, June 13th, 2015 at 2:00 pm at AJ Gators Sports Bar and Grill 3908 Holland Rd. Virginia Beach, VA 23452.
