
Robert Earl Stewart, 71, went home to be with the Lord from his Bedford County, VA residence on Friday, September 30, 2011.
Robert is survived by his best friend and wife, Laura; one son, Jeffrey and his wife Donna; his daughter, Penny; two step-daughters, Heather and Jacqulyn and her husband Mitch. Robert is also survived by three brothers, Ray and his wife Judy, Pete, and Dixie and his wife Bobbie; and a sister, Shirley; in addition to several grandchildren; one great grand-baby; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was a member of Faith Assembly in Salem. All who knew Bob knew one of the best. He will be greatly missed, but heaven has another saint. Bob is originally from North Carolina and retired with 25 years of service from the Norfolk Police Department in 1985. His service included Field Training Officer, Traffic Division Motor Cycle Officer and Detective. He worked as a Correctional Officer from 1985 until 1991 at SMLCU 24 in Moneta. Among his passions was carpentry.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 4th at 12:30 p.m. at Family Choice Funerals & Cremations in Roanoke, VA. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Interment will be private.

I want to send my thoughts to the family, i did not know Mr. Stewart personally, but I went to school with his daughter Penny. We may not keep in touch or see each other but Penny we are always connected. Thinking of you and your family.
