
Rodney “Rod” Lee Rucker, 60, of Roanoke passed away Monday, February 9th, 2015 in Salem.
Born February 6th, 1955 in Roanoke, he was preceded in death by his parents, Howard Rucker and Doris Haupt. He was also preceded in death by a nephew, Davy Ashby; brother-in-laws, Larry Ashby and Danny Webster.
Rod grew up in Bonsack in a home with his Grandma, his Granddad, his mom, sisters, Kathy and Vickie, Aunt Tiki and his cousins Butch and Jeff. He served in the Army and served in Germany and at Fort Lewis in Washington State and had several jobs including working for Carbone and Radiology Associates installing equipment.
He enjoyed hunting (deer, turkey and squirrel) and fishing (Craig Creek and James River) and playing the guitar and harmonica and liked Southern Rock and Blues music and when growing up, liked to hike, backpack and play ping pong.
Survivors include sisters, Vickie Ashby, Kathy Webster, and Gina Rucker; brothers, Cam, Terry, Barry and Chris Rucker; cousin, Jeff Hyler; nieces, Cathy Ashby, Whitney Ashby (Will), and Kaylee; nephew, Kalib; special friends, Cosmo and Neva Lindamood and Danaleen “Mom” Funk.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 pm, Friday, February 13, 2015 at Family Choice Funerals and Cremations, 4922 Valley View Blvd N, Roanoke, VA 24012.

Cam, I just want to say how sorry I am to hear of Rodney’s passing. I had not seen him in a good while. You knew my Mom and Dad, Lawrence (Moon) Mullins. I believe you and Chuck would come by to visit every once in awhile. I’m so sorry for your loss, and I hope you will cherish your good memories of Rodney~~they will become treasures to you & the rest of the family. PEACE BE WITH YOU.
