
LTJG Roland Mathew Bagley, Jr. USN (Ret.), 70, of Virginia Beach, passed away March 5, 2011. Born May 5, 1940 in Gloucester, MA, he was the son of the late Roland and Dorothy Bagley. He retired from the U.S. Navy and was a member of Thalia Lynn Baptist Church, where he also taught Sunday School. Mr. Bagley had a wide range of interests, including watching animals, and collecting stamps and coins. He especially enjoyed serving others and was extremely humble in his generosity.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Doris Bagley; two sons, Corey Bagley and his fiance`Letha Hundley and Kevin Fyfe and his wife, Ok hee; two daughters, Pamela Abernathie and her husband, Ian, and Tammy Peco and her husband, Emilio; five grandchildren, Kali Abernathie, Nicholas Fyfe, and Alex, Aaron, and Cody Peco; three brothers, Paul, Kenny, and Jeffrey Bagley; and two sisters, Rosemary Ciamarato and Marjorie Grace.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Family Choice Funerals and Cremations, 5401 Indian River Road, Virginia Beach. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Thalia Lynn Baptist Church, 4392 Virginia Beach Boulevard, Virginia Beach, with Dr. Prentis McGoldrick officiating. A graveside service will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Albert Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans’ Cemetery, 5310 Milners Road, Suffolk. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the church in his name.

There is nothing that we can say that will come close to what we feel about losing Roland. You have lost a husban. your children have lost a father and I have lost a brother. Howevewr all the love still remains.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you Doris during this time. We will miss Roland on our birding trips. He was such a character and loved to be out doors.
