Rose Mary Fischer, 77, went home to be with her Savior on April 5, 2013. Born on August 6, 1935 in San Diego, CA, she was the daughter of the late Marion Benjamin Blackmon and Stella Gregory Mercer Blackmon. Rose surrendered her life to the Lordship of Jesus Christ and became born-again by His Spirit at a tender young age. She demonstrated her faith in Christ by sharing God’s love and serving others in need throughout her life. When not tending to the Jonquils and Daffodils in her flower garden, Rose liked to play the piano, crochet, and collect sea shells.

She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Lewis E. Fischer; daughter, Susan Barnes and her husband, Ashley of Newport News, VA; niece, Alicia Townsend and her husband, Fred of Clovis, CA; nephews, Joseph King, Jr. of Clovis, CA, William Funderburk and his wife, Jennette of Myrtle Beach, SC, Henry Funderburk and his wife, Janet of Riverside, CA, Roger Funderburk and his wife, Susan of Edinburg, VA, and Robert Funderburk and his wife, Mitty of Jacksonville, NC.

Besides her parents, Rose is preceded in death by her brother, Marion (Buddy) Blackmon; sisters, Margaret Funderburk and Alice King; and nieces, Mary and Elizabeth Funderburk.

A Memorial Service will be held on April 9th at 1:00 pm at the Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 3229 McDonald Rd., VA Beach, VA 23464.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church’s building fund.
