Ruth Gibbs Williams, 84, passed away in Chesapeake on Monday, April 17th 2023 at home surrounded by her family. Ruth was fondly known as Rustie, was born in Philadelphia, Pa. She was preceded in death by parents, Edward Weston Gibbs and Elizabeth Fritzinger Gibbs. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, George Edward Williams Jr. and their children Tammy Hart and Terri Hylton. She was known as Grandmom to grandson Weston Hart. Also surviving her are sister Joan DiBenedetto, sisters in law Anna Moffit, Louise McLaughlin, Cecelia Hagy, Edna Weiszer (Bill), Patricia Giamboy (Michael), brothers in law, Howard (Janice), Walter (Dianne), William and Michael (Maryann) Williams, along with several nieces and nephews.
Ruth graduated from Murrell Dobbins Technical High School where she met the love of her life and would often tell people she married her prom date. She was of the Presbyterian faith and active in Christian Endeavor.
Ruth transplanted to Virginia in 1961 where she became a caring and loving mother. She was active in the girls’ lives in school, church, and work. Ruth became a Girl Scout leader when one was not available.
She worked at the Norfolk Naval Station for 20 years retiring from the Joint Forces Staff College in 2006.
Ruth will be missed by her family and friends.

Visitation will be from 11 AM to 1 PM Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Family Choice Funeral Home, 5401 Indian River Road, Virginia Beach, VA followed by the memorial service at 1 PM.
