Silvestre Anthony “Tony” Duran passed away peacefully on March 16, 2021 at the age of 82 in Virginia Beach, Virginia with his three children, Laura, Miriam and Gerard by his side.
He was born on October 26, 1938 in Byesville, Ohio but raised in Lorain, Ohio. He entered the U.S. Navy at a young age and made a career of it for 22 years as an Avionics Technician based mainly at naval air stations and air craft carriers. During his naval career, he traveled to many countries such as Brazil, Israel, Japan, Italy and Spain. After his retirement from the Navy, he worked at several technology companies including Rockwell Collins in Iowa. He was a hard worker never wanting to retire.
He made his way back to Virginia Beach to be close to family. He enjoyed reading and an extensive home library. His major hobby was astronomy and would often set-up his telescope. He will always be remembered for his goodness, kindness and loving nature. Silvestre was predeceased by his brother Charles. Besides his children, he is survived by his son-in-law, Joe; grandsons Jonathon and Patrick Willey; sister Agnes, and brothers Bob and Melvin and many nephews and nieces.
We are so sorry for your loss. He was a good man who left us too soon.
