Sonny M. Marcelo,67, passed away peacefully Friday, July 8th, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.
Sonny migrated to the U.S. in the very early 80’s and joined the great United States Army. His MOS (Military Occupational Specialty) was “Armament Repairer” aka Tank Mechanic. He spent a great amount of time stationed in Germany with his family, and moved to Virginia Beach in 1997. Throughout his Military career, he had many achievements and medals. He served in the Middle East – “Operation Desert Storm,” for a year, and also served a year during “Operation Joint Endeavor” in Bosnia. He was very proud to have served his country for twenty years. His later job after retiring from the Military was at Labels Inc. as a driver. He enjoyed delivering labels all along the east coast, and found a great love for Country music during all his time on the road.
He loved the simple things in life. Sonny was great at Chess and Table Tennis. He loved watching tennis on TV, collecting clocks and watches, and loved spending time with his family. Nothing brought a bigger smile to his face than being around his loved ones, eating a good meal together, and watching his granddaughters play.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 44 years, Wilma, his daughter, Kristine (Duane,) his son Kris (Erin,) and grand daughters Mackenzie
and Madelyn. His siblings: Leonie, Gener, Virgilio, Zenaida, Helen, and Yoly. Preceded in death by his parents, and siblings Rodolfo, Nestor, and Florante.
