
NORFOLK, VA — Timothy J. Delabar, 66, of Norfolk, Virginia let this world for the glories of Heaven on Friday, June 24, 2016 after a valiant fight with cancer. He was born in Portsmouth, Ohio on January 21, 1950 to the late Joseph and Lula Delabar.
He was a 1968 graduate of Notre Dame High School. Upon graduation he followed in his three older brother’s footsteps of military service by joining the U.S. Navy, where he served for 26 years, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer 3. After his retirement he pursued his other passion of fixing things by starting his own business, “Your Handyman.” He was very respected for both his work ethic and his honesty. He was an honorable man and a true leader.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Phillip “Pete,” Stephen “Tony,” and Robert “Butch,” Delabar and a sister, Martha Lou Delabar.
Those surviving to mourn his loss are his wife, Marianne, daughters, Tara Clements of Suffolk, Virginia and Jennifer (Stephen) Wilcox of Maryland, and son, Timothy of Virginia Beach. Two step-children, Sam Padilla and Nels Mize of Virginia. Also his four sisters, Betty (Thomas) Roth, Becky Lauter both of Portsmouth. Kathi (Al) Owens and Mary Lee (Jimmy) Smalley both of Lucasville, and a very special nephew Scott Lauter of Virginia Beach. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Bobby, Megan, Emily and Sierra, in addition to his three step-grandchildren.
Timothy’s ashes will be buried at a later date, befitting our hero, in Arlington National Cemetery.
