Winnie Robin Bodner, 90, went home to heaven on April 7th, 2013. She was the daughter of the late Ralph Knight, Sr. and Beatrice Mears Knight.
She is survived by her sisters: Connie Jones of AZ, Val Stover of CA, Lina Jane Hall of MS; brothers, Clarence Knight of VA and Ralph Knight, Jr. of PA; Children Richard & Brigitte Peterson, Joyce & Herb Rector, Jane & Chuck Jones, Carolyn B Old & Thomas Bodner with many precious grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Sister Robin was a beloved member of Christ’s Sanctified Holy Church of Chesapeake. Her testimony for her Lord was her prized possession.
Mrs Bodner was an amazing person to many that met her. Even though she had severe eyesight limitations, she would perform many things that would seem impossible for a visually-impaired person. For example, she would often prepare a complete Sunday dinner for over 25 people without any assistance whatsoever. Everyone raved about how good her food was. The menu would always include home made rolls, pies, and cakes. Something very difficult to do blindfolded!
Ms. Bodner also ran a news stand for the Virginia Division for the Visually Handicapped in the Norfolk Post Office for nearly 20 years.
Although her early years had disappointments, she would later have her life completely changed when she accepted the Lord in her heart. She would often share that she wanted all of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren to know Christ personally in their own lives also.
The viewing will be Wednesday, April 10th from 7-9 p.m. with the funeral ceremony on Thursday April 11th at 1 p.m. at Christ’s Sanctified Holy Church, 1477 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake, VA. A graveside committal will take place following at 3 p.m. at Rosewood Memorial Park, 601 N. Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23462.

Mr. Bodner and family, I was sad to hear of the passing of your mother. I feel like I knew her because of all of the wonderful memories you shared whenever I was in your company. I so enjoyed watching the video, and I was moved by the ever-present smile on your mother’s face in most of the pictures. She was obviously a very happy woman right to the end. How fortunate she was to be surrounded by so many loved ones at her age. I know you will miss her, but stay srong and lean on God during the weak moments. Thanks for being such a kind agent to me and my family. May God bless you and your family.

I have known Sis. Robin for most of my 53 years. Her love for God and her sweet spirit and kindness to everyone are the memories that my heart remembers about her the most. Always so glad to see you, to share conversation with you, and to talk about how good God was to her. I love every member of her family and thank God that He brought Sis. Robin and all of you into my life. You are loved and being lifted up on wings of prayer.
Love always,
Gary
I’m so sorry to see that Robin has passed away. She was a dear sweet sole.
When we, who worked in the Courthouse, would go down to buy a “goodie”, she always knew our voices and called our names.
She was an amazing woman!
