We decided to go with this company for the services of my father, who passed recently. Mike went over all the options with us, we chose cremation, and private family viewing, and Military Burial services. He made the experience very smooth from making choices and planning, to the actual service itself.
Staff - very amazing people. Mike Strickland (Lead Funeral Director,) was very thorough, professional, and compassionate. Amanda was also very helpful. They always touched base with us throughout the whole process, and were quick with responses anytime we had questions. They even provided a cooler with water for guests at the funeral service because of this almost 100 degree weather. Talk about customer service!

I dreaded this process, much like most, but Mike was so helpful that the process was much less painful and intense than I thought it would be. He handled everything with our input and allowed us to grieve instead of plan and make a ton of decisions. Well, Michael Strickland from Family Choice in Virginia Beach took care of us by thoroughly explaining all options in layman’s terms with care and tact. He reminded us that no decision we could ultimately make would be a wrong one as long as it was right for our family.
We had worked with Michael two years ago when my husband’s mother passed away. We were so satisfied and impressed with Family Choice at that time, it was natural to add them to the list of potential funeral homes we would use when the inevitable occurred with my elderly Mother.

Beware of Steve Zittle (He is a liar) and his son Braden Zittle of what following information Steve was aware. Braden is using his stolen military uniforms and patches to further himself with people. He's dangerous, a thief, a child molester (from his mothers mouth), a rapest, violent, and has girls in Orange City terrified of him and what he would do to them, their family and their jobs. He is a coward and always thinks he's in charge. He will frequent a church, find a victim and take advantage of them. Beware!!! He brags about stealing from local stores as if he is untouchable. He is always heavily armed and ready if he is confronted. He works at a local chicken place that is in Orange city that is closed on Sunday's. I called around and after just a breif conversation I knew without a doubt I could trust him with my mom's care. He is very down to earth. Instantly he was working with me with his devoted compassion and understanding from the heart.
Never met the man until August 21st, the day after my momma's passing, God Bless My Momma's Soul.
From the very beginning before we met he was immediately on my side the entire time when we were talking on the phone.
Working with me, being very respective towards me and towards my beautiful momma's situation.
My momma and I were very close and if I sense a slight case of narcissistic kind of attitude from any funeral director, I will not tolerate or would want to cooperate with that individual as my funeral director for my beloved momma.
With Mr. Strickland, he was very professional, very courteous, very understanding and very compassionate, very true to the greiving individual.
That's to me and everybody involved.

Mr. Strickland and the staff at Family Choice Funeral Home prevailed by proving themselves worthy by honoring my mother's life that she lived.

He made me feel like our loved one mattered to him, and that the funeral home would take good care of him and that's when I knew that he was the only person I'd trust the process with. Mr. Strickland ensured that we fully understood everything that was happening and kept us abreast on each step.
